“I started this journey in 2013 when I was introduced to some of the compelling innovations that were starting to be achieved in the virtual reality technology space. I had already been fascinated with the idea of how certain physical spaces can influence and affect our general mood and in turn help to balance our everyday stresses and anxieties, especially in the digital age. I then discovered the techniques behind Mindfulness meditation, and the whole thing just kind of clicked from there!!

In early 2014 when I heard the story of Palmer Luckey and the acquisition of his company Oculus by Facebook, I knew instinctively that this had all the signs of something really new and big.

So by the end of 2014 I was looking for ways to take some of my initial ideas and start to really run with them. At that time I was working in the area of Future Internet technologies and was aware of an opportunity to apply to an Accelerator competition called FICHe (www.f6s.com/fiche), which I did. There were 310 entrants to the competition and with all the work, dedication and inspiration from the MindMyths Team, we successfully made it through to the last round of the competition, which involved just 20 of the remaining start-ups.

This provided us with a seed funding of €220,000, and gave us a great opportunity to build a prototype of our MindMyths innovation and test this with real users in a scientifically controlled setting in our Living Lab at the University Rehabilitation Institute, in Slovenia….”
